FAQs
Here you will find additional useful information about our products and services
Product Availability
Because of the nature of the wax that we use in our candles and melts, and the Cold Process that we use for our Artisan Soaps, these products have what is known as a Cure Time. This is the amount of time that the products need in order to be fully ready for customer use and to provide the best scent throws. Our cure times are as follows:
- Candles and Wax Melts - 2 weeks
- Artisan Soaps - 6-8 weeks
We do our best to make our products in such a way as to plan for these cure times, however there could be times when products are out of stock and may take a few weeks for us to get them back in stock. If there is something you are looking for that is currently out of stock, please send an email to support@granitepeakscreations.com and we will do our best to provide info on when it will be available.

Wet Spots on candle
Why does it appear like my candle has a wet spot in it? You may have noticed what looks like a "wet spot" on some of our candles. This is nothing to worry about, they do not affect the use or performance of the candle. Wet spots are a very common side effect of our use of natural soy waxes in our candles. They are formed as the temperatures change during the curing process and the wax expands and contracts against the glass of the jars. We do our best to use consistent methods while pouring our candles in an effort to prevent them, however they are just a part of using natural waxes.
Wax hang-up on sides of candle containers
As candles burn down you may notice leftover wax on the sides of the jars or containers that the candles are made in. Having a little bit of this "hang-up" is normal as candles burn down and will usually catch up or melt as the candle continues to burn.
There are many factors that can contribute to excessive wax being left or in some cases the candle "tunneling" which is where the candle burns a tunnel down the center and never melts the outside. Usually these issues are caused by poor material quality, improper wick size, or burning the candle for less than the recommended time (3-4 hours).
We use high quality materials, and all of our candles have gone through extensive testing with the combination of soy wax, containers and wicks that we use in an effort to prevent excessive tunneling or wax hang-up. However this does not 100% guarantee that these conditions will not occur.
It is recommended that each time you burn a candle that you allow it to burn until the melt pool reaches the edge of the container even it just barley touches. This is usually between 3-5 hours depending on the container and number of wicks. This will usually allow the candle to self correct and remove hang-up and tunneling as it burns down, however again this is not 100% guaranteed.
Mushroom head on wicks after burning
You may notice what appears to be a "mushroom" looking head on wicks after burning. This is very common in highly scented candles and is caused by the fragrance oils traveling up the wick while it burns. This a very normal occurrence and is nothing to be worried about. However it is necessary to remove this mushroom by trimming the wick after each burn. Please wait until the candle cools and the wax re-hardens before trimming your wicks to avoid debris getting into the melted wax. See our Candle Care page for proper care of candles
